Unless you want to break your back. I had to remove one today, and it was the heaviest thing I’ve ever lifted on the job. Usually, a treadmill is heavy - between 100 and 200 pounds or so. This one, however? 500 would be a conservative estimate. We had to take it apart in order to carry it. The handles themselves were solid metal, rather than hollow tubes, and the base had god-knows-what going on inside of it. When we set it down in the truck, we had to flip it over to make it fit, and the stuff it landed on was absolutely flattened beyond recognition.

It was heavy.

Their ultimate goal is to convince runners to lift more. Passive aggressive.

I have a 10-year-old Schwimm treadmill (non-folding, very solid, $1300 back in the day) that weighs about 300#. It was delivered by LTL freight to my driveway. Some of those full healthclub models can push 1,000# I’ve heard.

Is it heavy? Then it’s expensive. Put it down. :P

My tax dollars paid for perfectly good streets and sidewalks... Why would I want to buy a treadmill?

Seriously, though- nothing is worse than running on a treadmill. Or working out indoors at all, for that matter.

Just remember that treadmills are devices of punishment. The British used them to operate industrial works using prison labor. Just be glad you haven’t had the experience of moving a truly old school treadmill.

For whatever reason, my wife and I bought a Nautilus the other day. I guess the bright side is that it cost the same as 1 year of gym membership, which we haven’t used in over a year. So, at least this way, that money is at least wasted on something we own in our home.
